Some explainin

I think I have some explainin to do. I've had lots going on. Ha. Is that good enough? I mean, I was hating that certain people were hawking my blog. But, I figure, hell with it. That's the point of having a blog. I just couldn't get everyone's emails together and I don't want to limit my friends who may want to read it. Let's see....Sethie is CRAWLING, Parker is talking in complete sentences, I've finished up at UNC hospital and I start at Wakemed Friday night. Whew, I know. I totally need to blog more than I have been! Last week was a doozy. I worked the weekend, orientation Mon-Fri then worked Fri, Sat night. It was like 40 something days. And, I'm not sure who had it worse, me or Jay. He had both kids and was about to pull his hair out. He would argue that his hair is already out. Whatev. The trees in our yard are full and green and just bursting with leaves. It's really nice and cozy and like being in the mountains. It's nice to be off the road and private. Especially since we've lived in apartments and the townhome for so long.
I've started another blog (what was I thinking?!) about reading. In the hopes, that I would be plowing through books and blogging about them and getting more free ones. I feel so bad because the publishing company sent me 2 of the same copy. 1 for a friend. The book is really good but I just can't seem to find time to read it. I think I should've gone into literature. I'd love to work all day reading and editing. I think I missed my calling. No lives at stake, an cute office on the top floor overlooking the city. You know the movie, the Proposal. Exactly. Name on desk-check. Eliptical in the corner-check. Sticky notes in bright colors-check. Highlighters in every hue available-check. Oh well, I mean..how do you get into that exactly anyways? And, I'm not sure you could ever really leave work at work. I'd be reading ALL the time :) Wonder how good the pay is...mmmmm....
Regarding the accutane I'm on...ugh. I'm over this. My face is like a snake's skin. I mean really? My lips are horrid too. It's like no matter what, the peeling continues. AND, I'm still having some little pimples. It's pretty bothersome honestly and I'm just ready for it all do be done. The last time I went to the derm, she says, "Oh the 3rd month for me was a turning point. You aren't going to believe it." Um, okay. Turning point for the WORST? I just keep telling myself I've got a little over 3 months left and afterwards, my skin is going to be as soft and flawless as Sethie's butt. Well, minus the dimples!
Hope everyone is well. Thanks for the loyalty. I'll try and do better peeps.
All that's joyful,
Kimmie

Whirlwind

Things are such a whirlwind right now! The boys are growing so fast. I want to do better about journaling and blogging. I'd like to look back on my blog and see the boys growing up again. Today we went through Seth's clothes, sorting, folding, packing, and trashing things he can no longer wear. I have to say, it was amazing. Some of the things that we put away (for consignment) were items that Parker Jay wore when he was a baby. We made room for other things that had been packed away. Pulling them out, I was filled with emotion. I pulled out the 9-12 month box and just had to take a deep breath. I lifted each outfit, and just couldn't believe Parker wore them such a short time ago. And, that soon, Seth would be wearing them and toddling, climbing, seeking. Parker is such a funny little boy. He is always thinking he has a surprise on the porch because we are always getting packages. He sneaks out of his bed at night, goes into his bathroom and messes with soap and the next morning, there are fingerprints on the window. I cannot be mad at him about it. He's just being curious. And, I'm sure it's like fingerpainting for him. Plus, I can never seem to catch him in the act of fingersoaping :0) If I catch him, I guess that's a different story. There's never a dull day here in the Lewis zoo. Hope y'all had a wonderful Monday.

About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog. It's a dedicated place for my book reviews, criticism, and love of all things bookish. I am a mom of 4 busy kids that uses reading as my, "thing." I find that reading books turns off all (okay, mostly all?) of the noise of my world and lets me get away for a bit. Reading helps me escape the reality of the piles of laundry that will never be done, the dust bunnies that I swear will one day grow legs, and the emails and outlook calendar that occupy my life Monday- Friday during working hours. Reading is therapy for me and always has been. I've always been a big dork, introverted, creative, and reflective. If I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd probably open up a used bookstore with my standard poodle somewhere on the side of the mountain and surround myself by others who enjoy passing their time reading. Until then, I'll keep on keeping on. And, I'll settle for reading when I can. Which, I try to fit in as much as possible. Cheers to your busy life and mine, doing the best we can, as often as we can.
